The uniquely Italian version of the well known Pinot Gris grape. Picked earlier in Italy than in all other regions, well before its characteristic loss of acidity at ripening, this is a bright, crisp, dry white wine with a gentle perfume and a detectable spiciness. Good News for White Wine Drinkers
Posted on June 22, 2010 There has been a lot of press recently about the health benefits of drinking red wine. Well, now there's good news for white wine drinkers too! Recent studies indicate that white wine is just as healthy as red wine. Studies shows that white wine has similar cardioprotective effects as red wine, helping prevent heart attacks and other major health problems associated with the heart, kidneys, and blood vessels. White wine contains two stong antioxidants - tyrosol and hydroxytyrosol (also found in olive oil) - that make it good for the heart.
Researchers have also found that drinking white wine activates the gene Sirtuin (SIRT 1) which helps slow the aging process. White wine has also been shown to help prevent and regulate diabetes, and ongoing research looks promising that white wine may boost the immune system, increase blood flow in patients with kidney problems, and act as an antiviral agent.
Studies also indicate that moderate consumption of wine (both red and white) can lower a woman's risk of developing ovarian cancer, increase cognitive function in the elderly, and help prevent the growth of streptococci, the bacteria responsible for tooth decay and sore throats.
So, drink up wine lovers! Here's to your health!
